The complex legacy of COP29: A crossroad for climate action

Another COP (Conference of Parties) comes and goes, leaving in its wake the familiar aftermath of frustration and unmet expectations. Once again, promises were made, but the gap between words and actions feels wider than ever as COP summits often seem mired in speeches and declarations, with little to show in terms of tangible, transformative outcomes.

Climate Action Month 2024

Climate Action Month 2024 was an incredible success, reaching over 20,000 individuals, including students and the general public. Throughout August, a series of engaging events took place across schools, colleges, public parks, and other venues. These events creatively conveyed the urgent message of climate change through a variety of artistic expressions, such as music performances, mime acts, flash mobs, and puppetry. The month served as a powerful platform for raising awareness and inspiring action on climate issues.

The Alt School- Closed Event

Day 30 of Climate Action Month - events for today are closed events. A talk on waste segregation, plastic or not game and build a story competition will be conducted for the students.

Understanding environmental attitudes among college students in Tamil Nadu

Delving into the environmental attitudes of college students in Tamil Nadu, our study reveals that students have a fondness for nature, a commitment to conservation, but show neutrality on key issues such as eco centric concern. Additionally, we convened a workshop involving academicians, researchers, environmentalists, and journalists to revisit the existing UGC environmental studies curriculum. The outcome report and model syllabus from this workshop serves as an addendum to the main report.

Multistakeholder forum on Sustainable production and consumption

The need for climate action becomes urgent with every passing second we go on about business as usual. It is high time we rethink and reshape the way we produce and consume in this day and age. CAG organised a Multistakeholder Forum on Sustainable Production and Consumption in Chennai on 23 and 24 March. The discussions over the course of two days have been compiled into this report with recommendations for the way forward.

Blended finance: The dichotomy of opportunities and challenges

In the race against climate change, nations worldwide face a monumental challenge: balancing the urgent need for sustainable development with the financial resources required to implement transformative solutions. This is where blended finance emerges as one of the tools in the fight against climate change with the strategic use of development finance and philanthropic funds to mobilise private capital flows to emerging markets.

Climate Action Month - July 2023

Article 6 of the UNFCC convention highlights the importance of communicating with the general public and engaging stakeholders about climate change and its effects, to ensure public access to information and to promote public participation in addressing the issue. This report is the summary of our month-long campaign "Climate Action Month", aimed at raising awareness of climate change among school and college students, corporate employees and the general public.

Tree Appreciation walk

#ClimateActionMonth2023! Come join our Tree Appreciation Walk! This event on Sunday, July 30th, led collaboratively by CAG and Care Earth Trust, will take you through the grounds of the Theosophical Society, Adyar, as we meet some highly unappreciated, taken for granted tree-friends. Join us at 9.15 at the Main Entrance, opposite Malar Hospital. The event is from 9.30 to 11.

Documentary screening and discussion on "The Story of Adyar"

You’re invited to join us for a special screening of the documentary “The Story of Adyar” as part of CAG’s #ClimateActionMonth2023!
