This report examines if the usage and break up of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds by industries in Tamil Nadu supports the needs of those likely to be left behind.

Decommissioning of coal based thermal power plants - a baseline study report

As of today, India has 35,949 MW of power plant infrastructure that is more than 25-years-old and are bound to be decommissioned in the near future. Thus, each Indian state needs an action plan for the decommissioning of a thermal power plant. This report is a baseline study that guides to design a localised statutory framework to minimise the impact of the decommissioning process on surrounding communities & the environment.

Cuddalore is an important coastal district in Tamil Nadu, and is classified as a critically polluted  industrial town by the Central Pollution Control Board in 2010. Despite this dubious distinction, the proliferation of polluting and hazardous industries continues, making the residents of Cuddalore even more vulnerable. Situated in the Parangipettai block of Cuddalore district is the fishing village of Pudukuppam.

Survey on assessing environmental and health impacts in an industrial cluster in Thoothukudi district

A perception survey by CAG that reveals the experiences of people living in the vicinity of Thoothukudi's industries with respect to the environmental degradation from air, water and soil pollution; and the subsequent harmful consequences on human health. The study also analyses residents' perceptions of the changes brought upon their lives by industrial development.

Along with Mr. Kuttiappan, Senior Technical Consultant, CAG, our researchers Mr. Dhilip, Ms. Bhagyashree Rath and Ms. Harshavardhini went for a site visit around ITPCL, Cuddalore on March 15th, 2018. The visual observations and inferences made from the site visit, including the concerns raised by the local people have been compiled as a report.
