Can COP26 really live up to its claim of being “normal and inclusive”?

The stakes are at an all-time high for the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) as the fate of the sheer existence of our planet is dependent on its outcome. COP26 was originally scheduled to be held during November 2020, but, like several other international conferences, it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More so if the audiences for our apocalyptic messages are gleamy-eyed youngsters, with supposedly a heady mix of hope, irreverence and apathy (they can ill-afford, if you ask us). And what reason do we have to snuff out the rosy future they’ve imagined for the world? The ‘ambiguous’, ‘invisible’ and ‘deniable’ omnibus of reasons called climate crisis/emergency.
