Comments on proposed grant of TOR to MIDPL for Adani Kattupalli Port Expansion

Marine Infrastructure Developer Private Limited (MIDPL) proposed a revised Master Plan Development of the Adani Port at Kattupalli, Tiruvallur District. When the project was scheduled for discussion by the Expert Appraisal Committee, CAG shared its concerns regarding the same, and demanded that a site visit be undertaken by experts, before arriving at a decision on grant of Terms of Reference (TOR).

CAG’s Comments on the Executive Summary,  Form-1, TOR, Amended TOR, Draft EIA Report and Pre-Feasibility report for proposed Singareni collieries company Ltd, for establishment of 1 x 600 MW (Additional unit) of coal Based Thermal Power plant besides the 2 x 600MW units already existing at Pegadapalli (V), Jaipur (M), Mancherial District, Telangana by Singareni collieries company Ltd. The proposed capacity is amended to 1x800MW.

Comments on the proposed amendment to EC of ITPCL, Cuddalore

IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power Company Limited (ITPCL), which runs a 1200 MW coal-based power plant in Cuddalore, is seeking to amend its Environmental Clearance (issued in May 2010), to change the nature of its coal- from fully imported Indonesian coal to a blend of 25 % lignite(from Neyveli Lignite Corporation's mines) and 75 % imported Indonesian coal. This proposal, which now involves transporting lignite by road passing through 29 villages, is being labelled 'modernisation'. Here are CAG's comments on why the proposed change- without a thorough EIA- is problematic.
